At first, many students need substantial external organisation.
They may benefit from defined weekly priorities, short accountability checks and explicit guidance on how to begin. Over
time, however, the student should assume more responsibility.
A useful coaching relationship therefore evolves.
The coach may initially model how to construct a revision plan. Later, the student creates the plan and explains their
reasoning. Eventually, they should be able to set priorities, monitor progress and make adjustments with increasing
independence.
We do not want students to remain reliant upon somebody else to tell them what to do. We want them to internalise a
disciplined academic process.
